I am the daughter of a machinist and a telcommunications worker. My mother and father were humble, union people who struggled so that I could go to UC Berkeley and earn a degree.
After college, I moved to West Oakland. I was married here and live here with my husband and youngest son. We walk these streets, breathe the air, worship and shop here. My son attended public school in Oakland. We are proud to call this town home.
I’ve spent my career developing affordable housing and economic opportunity in low-income communities. As the CEO of a multi-million dollar organization, I’ve learned to balance real budgets and make a payroll.
I’ve also bridged the interests of the business community with the needs of the neighborhood. I understand that a healthy city is one that balances a vibrant business sector with a commitment to economic justice for all residents.
Oakland has great needs. This is a time for progress, not politicking. I’m running for City Council in District 3 because I have roots here, I’m raising my family here and what happens here matters.
